Shi-chan wins gold!

It's silly and very parochial of me, but I was glad that Arakawa won gold for Japan in figure skating. I got a little moist when the anthem was played. It has been a terrible olympics for Japan, with so many 4th place finishes.

In my biased opinion, I thought it was a fabulous performance, particularly the silky smoothness of the moves. For a change, the hand movements didn't look forced, and steps didn't look just thrown in. Ina Bauer was just so elegantly done, even though it didn't generate any technical points. I applaud her for including it, because she "wanted to skate it." Thank you Shi-chan.
